And Why Should I Care?

What is Preventative Maintenance

Preventative maintenance is having your main lines cleared on an annual or biannual basis. These main storm and sewer lines are the only way to carry wastewater and storm water away of your home. All gutters, footer drains and window wells lead to the storm line and all drains inside the home lead to the sewer line. They are extremely important pieces of keeping your home functioning properly.

Cleaning these lines will not only help prevent sewage or storm water back ups in your basement, but it will also help increase the longevity of your pipes.

As small roots penetrate the walls through little fractures of the pipe or deteriorated pipe joints, these roots grow thicker causing larger cracks. Eventually, they will destroy the structure of the pipes and either cause the need for excavation and replacement or consistent backups.

There are two different ways to clean your main sewer line: Power snaking or jetting. Snaking will remove roots and soft clogs. Hydro-jetting will remove heavy sludge and roots that a snake can't get through.

Depending on the severity of your situation we will recommend which solution to use. For those that keep up with maintenance a simple snaking can usually do the trick!

Keeping your pipes clean and open with a full flow can save you from the devastating backups that lead to costly home repairs and damage.
